KFF journalists discuss opioid funds, suicide prevention and gaps in care

KFF Health News highlighted recent broadcast appearances covering Louisiana opioid settlement spending, social connections in suicide prevention, primary care shortages and gun violence affecting children in Florida.

Text size:

Journalists from KFF Health News discussed several public-health issues in broadcast appearances between August 26 and September 1, according to the organization's September 12 roundup.

Senior correspondent Aneri Pattani appeared on Attitude With Arnie Arnesen on September 1 to discuss how Louisiana sheriffs were spending opioid settlement payments. The linked segment begins at 5:45. Her related reporting examined the state's allocation of 20 percent of settlement money to sheriffs and followed how it was used.

Pattani also spoke on Good Faith Media's Our Stigma on August 31 about loneliness, isolation and the role of social connections in suicide prevention. That interview begins at 3:50. The accompanying story examines social activities such as trivia nights and Valentine's cards.

On August 28, senior correspondent Renuka Rayasam discussed shortages in primary care on PBS News' Horizons.

Florida correspondent Daniel Chang appeared on Fox 13 Tampa Bay on August 26 to discuss the effects of gun violence on children in the state. His linked reporting examines where that violence has its greatest impact on Black and Latino children.

The roundup provides links to the appearances and related reporting; it does not reproduce complete interview transcripts or the underlying investigations.
