Optex Systems Announces $0.4 Million Order for Infrared Windows

RICHARDSON, TX / ACCESS Newswire / September 1, 2026 / Optex Systems Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXS), a leading manufacturer of precision optical sighting systems for domestic and worldwide military and commercial applications, announced today it has been awarded a new contract for infrared windows, bringing Optex's Applied Optics Center back into the infrared coatings market.

Text size:

Of note, this is the Company's first award from a prime contractor that has previously not been a customer of Optex. In addition, upon successful completion of this initial contract, the Company anticipates that follow-on orders for this program could be as much as $14.0 million annually beginning during the second calendar quarter of 2027.

The Applied Optics Center, a Division of Optex Systems, Inc., is the leading provider of laser protection optics and optical devices that protect both the soldiers' eyes as well as their state-of-the-art visual augmentation devices. Bill Bates, GM of Applied Optics Center, stated, "We are very proud of this new order and what it could potentially mean to our business. We have invested over $4.5 million in capital to improve our infrared lens fabrication and coatings capability, and with the increase in defense spending for infrared surveillance and targeting systems, we are very excited to add these products to our portfolio. These new state-of-the-art tools will help us meet very tight performance specifications and continuously improve our product yields, which ultimately lowers the cost to our customers and end-users in the U.S. military."

With this new order, the current Optex backlog is in excess of $26.5 million.
