Avel eCare Hosts National Emergency Airway Course, Earning Top Marks from Clinicians Across the Country

Advanced training draws national participants and strengthens lifesaving skills for emergency providers.

Text size:

SIOUX FALLS, SD / ACCESS Newswire / May 6, 2026 / Avel eCare welcomed emergency clinicians from across the country to Sioux Falls for its annual Emergency Airway Training Program, a two day, immersive course focused on one of the most critical and high risk emergency procedures: advanced airway management.

Powered by The Difficult Airway Course, the program combines evidence based instruction with intensive hands on training designed to help physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and EMS professionals build confidence, precision, and decision making skills in high stakes airway scenarios.

A standout feature of the course is its hands on format, allowing participants to practice surgical and video guided airway techniques using real tracheal anatomy. This realistic exposure helps clinicians develop muscle memory and adaptability for the wide range of airway challenges they may encounter in emergency settings.

"This course delivers repetition, realism, and expert guidance - all of which are essential when seconds matter," said Dr. Tyler Price, Medical Director of Emergency at Avel eCare. "Advanced airway management is one of the most stressful procedures a clinician can face, especially in lower volume or rural emergency departments. Our goal is to ensure providers leave feeling confident, prepared, and supported when those moments arise."

Participants consistently cite the course as a career defining learning experience. "It was the best conference I've attended in my entire career," said Mary Anderson, a clinician from Regional Health Services of Howard County, Cresco, IA. "The level of instruction, the hands on practice, and the ability to learn directly from experienced emergency physicians made an immediate impact on my confidence and skills. I would recommend this course to any clinician involved in airway management."

In addition to in person training, the course highlights how Avel's realtime telemedicine support complements bedside care. Through tools such as video laryngoscopy, Avel emergency physicians can view the airway in real time and guide onsite clinicians' step by step during complex intubations, providing critical backup when it is needed most.

Course highlights included:

  • Pediatric airway case discussions

  • Surgical airway techniques

  • Bagvalve mask and laryngoscopy workshops

  • Code airway simulations

  • Video laryngoscopy skill stations

Beyond the two day program, Avel eCare continues to support clinicians through AVELearn, its education platform offering ongoing access to accredited courses, webinars, and simulation based learning tailored to the needs of emergency and rural care teams.

"For Avel eCare, this course reflects our broader commitment to our partners," added Dr. Mathew Nipe, board-certified emergency physician at Avel eCare. "Whether providers work in large trauma centers or critical access hospitals, they deserve access to high quality training, experienced backup, and the tools that help them deliver safe, effective care."
